Why Excel?

Excel is still the most widely used format for reviewing, analysing, and sharing transaction data. A good Excel file has one transaction per row, dates in a recognised format, and debits and credits in separate columns — exactly what our converter produces.

  • Opens directly in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, and LibreOffice Calc
  • ISO date format (YYYY-MM-DD) — sortable, filterable, no Excel auto-formatting surprises
  • Separate Debit and Credit columns plus a Balance column where available
  • Original statement metadata preserved on a second sheet (account number, period, opening/closing balances)
  • UTF-8 encoded — non-Latin payee names and currency symbols render correctly

What gets extracted from your statement

  • Transaction date (normalised to YYYY-MM-DD)
  • Description, payee, and reference where available
  • Debit and credit amounts in separate, signed columns
  • Running balance, where the statement shows one
  • Statement period, opening balance, and closing balance
  • Account holder name and account number (header only)

Convert Excel for any bank

Our parser is bank-agnostic — it reads the layout of your statement directly rather than relying on a hand-written template per bank. That's how we support 1,000+ banks worldwide. Common ones below:

Excel conversion FAQ

Will the Excel file open in Google Sheets?

Yes. The XLSX is standards-compliant and opens cleanly in Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, and LibreOffice Calc with no formatting loss.

Are formulas preserved from the PDF?

PDF bank statements don't contain formulas — they contain printed numbers. We extract the numbers as values. The Balance column is calculated by the bank and recorded as-is.

Can I convert a scanned bank statement to Excel?

Yes. Our OCR engine handles scanned PDFs, photographed statements, and image-based exports. For best results, scan at 200 DPI or higher.
